The guides have been catching fish down-rigging in 34 feet of water. They’ve also had luck pulling spinners with crawlers and minnows by Little Oak, Hay Island, Four Block and other spots in Little Traverse Bay in 14 to 18 feet of water. Jigging closer to the Resort along the Border in 30 to 32 feet of water has started to improve with a mixed bag of sauger and walleye being caught.
June 3rd Fishing Report
Walleyes hanging out near rock edges in and avg. of 20 ft. right now. Jigs and a minnow or 2-3 ounce sinker and spinners are working well. Gold, Pinks and Yellows are the go to colors at the moment. We’ve had quite a bit of rain, but the weather looks to be turning around next week with warmer temps in the mid to high 70’s. Happy Fishing!

The Rainy River is iced over in most areas and open in others. Most areas not yet fishable with thin ice. For safety, work through resorts.
Up at the NW Angle, most fish houses are out and good fishing reported thus far. There is a staked trail from Young’s Bay to Flag Island and to Oak Island. Stay on staked trail as other areas can be inconsistent ice. Snowmobile/ATV travel only so far. Stay posted to Lake of the Woods Tourism or your favorite resort’s Facebook/Twitter pages for updates.
